NEAR THIS SPOT ON THE NORTH SIDE OF "C" STREET WAS LOCATED THE CITY SPRING. FROM IT, IN 1808, WATER FOR PUBLIC USE WAS FIRST PIPED THROUGH THE STREETS OF WASHINGTON, D.C.
